The 2025-26 winter season in the Central Savannah River Area brought a variety of weather, with snow and ice, as well as some warm days.
Overall, the winter season, which meteorologically began December 1 and ended February 28, brought below normal temperatures and precipitation to the Augusta area. The table below shows 2025-26 observed weather vs. the 30-year-averages from 1991 to 2020 at Augusta Regional Airport.

The coldest temperature of the winter season was 15°, occurring on January 16. While the winter will probably be remembered for cold temperatures and wintry precipitation, there were several very warm days. The warmest temperature was recorded on February 20, reaching 81°.
According to the Southeast Regional Climate Center, this winter season was the coolest in Augusta in 20 years. The 2005-06 winter season had an average temperature of 47.6°, compared to 47.8° for the 2025-26 season.
Precipitation was well below average, and drought worsened across the area as a result. With only 8.70″ of precipitation for the entire season, the Southeast Regional Climate Center shows Augusta experienced the driest winter since the 1999-2000 season.
