Summer 2021 Climate Summary for Augusta

Despite the typical heat and humidity summertime in Augusta brings, temperatures were actually a bit cooler than average for meteorological summer 2021. Meteorological summer includes the months of June, July and August. August was the only month that turned out warmer than the 30-year average (1991-2020).

The 2021 summer was actually the coolest summer on record at Augusta Regional Airport since 2014.

Rainfall totaled 20.63″, which is substantially above the 30-year average of 13.84″ during the summer season. Due to the often scattered nature of summer thunderstorms, not all nearby areas experienced such a large surplus of rainfall.

Fall Outlook

According to the Climate Prediction Center, the Augusta area has between a 33% and 40% chance of above normal temperatures for the months of September through November, which is known as meteorological fall.

The Climate Prediction Center places the area in an equal chances category of above, below, or near average precipitation during the same period.
